Degree Conferral

All students must submit a Degree Conferral Form to the Registrar’s Office in order to be reviewed and processed for degree conferral and diploma issuance. Degree conferral forms must be submitted according to the deadlines provided above. Failure to file a form by the appropriate deadline will result in postponement of degree conferral to the next scheduled date for issuing diplomas.

Official Transcripts

If you need a legal document as proof of your degree conferral, you can order your Official Mercy Transcripts from Parchment. The degree you are awarded can also be seen on your unofficial transcript on Mercy Connect and in any degree verification. 

Diploma

Your diploma is a ceremonial document, and it is not the official documentation of your degree. It can take up to 2 - 3 months after you have earned your degree for diploma orders to be processed. You will receive diploma information to your personal email and Mercy email when your diploma order from our printer (Parchment) is ready to view. 

Please logon to to make sure all your personal information (name, address, email, etc.) is correct and then apply for degree conferral.

  • March 15: May degree conferral
  • April 15​August degree conferral (Participating in May Commencement Ceremony Request - Students registered for their remaining 6 credits or less in the summer are eligible to participate in the May Ceremony)
  • August 1​August degree conferral (Not participating in May Ceremony)

How to File a Degree Conferral Form

Students are recommended to meet with their PACT Mentor to review their degree requirements and determine their appropriate degree conferral date.

Students may file a Degree Conferral Application online through Mercy Connect by following the instructions provided below.

  • Log on to with user name and password
  • Click on "Student" tab
  • Click on "Degree Conferral Form"
  • Fill out the form and click "Submit" when finished
  • or go to the PACT Office at any campus for assistance on degree conferral and graduation processes.

 

Commencement Information

All eligible students will be invited to attend the annual Commencement Exercises held in the month of May. Detailed information will be sent to students as the ceremony approaches. Please be aware that all students must apply for a degree conferral date regardless of decision to attend the May Commencement Ceremony.

  4. Fill out the form and click "Submit" when finished or go to the PACT Office at any campus for assistance on degree conferral and graduation processes
     

Students cannot update graduation applications once they are submitted. Please contact your PACT Mentor with your request to change your conferral term or reach out directly to the Registrar’s Office at registrar@mercy.edu with your name, CWID, and the semester you would like reflected on your graduation application so that we may best assist you.

Recent Graduate Questions

Mercy University’s policy is to only print legal names on Mercy University Diplomas. Mercy University DOES NOT print preferred names. If you complete a legal name change before degree conferral, we will make sure your new name is reflected on your newly printed diploma. If you legally change your name after you have applied for degree conferral and diplomas have been sent, you will need to complete a legal name change with via this link () and place an order for a replacement diploma to have your new name printed.

If you need a document as proof of your degree conferral, you can order a degree verification letter or a copy of your official transcript.

It could take up to 3 months for diplomas to be ordered, printed, and mailed after the conferral date. We appreciate your patience as we confirm all records for new graduates.

The Mercy University Registrar's Office will email students first to their personal emails to warn them about their impending diploma orders and to expect an email from Parchment. Students will then receive an email to their Mercy emails regarding diploma printing and delivery directly from Parchment. Once you receive the email, you will have 72 hours to change your diploma delivery address within Parchment. For any other edits to your diploma, please see the next FAQ below.

Diplomas reflect the degree received from the institution (i.e. Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Associate in Science, etc.), not the major completed. Majors completed as part of the degree (i.e. Nursing, Criminal Justice, English, etc.) will not be printed on a Mercy University diploma.

General Diploma Questions

Replacement diplomas can be ordered for a $30 fee through our printing partner, Parchment: ).

All diplomas are sent through USPS. If you are expecting your diploma in the mail, we encourage you to warn your mail carrier you are expecting an important document and to handle the document with care.

Yes, if you would like to pick up your diploma in person please indicate 555 Broadway, Dobbs Ferry, NY, 10522 as the delivery address and we will notify you via your Mercy email when it is available for pick-up.

We are sorry this happened! If you received a damaged diploma, then you are entitled to one free reprint through Parchment. Please reach out directly to Parchment's customer service to get your reprint ordered. You can find their contact info here:

Diplomas reflect the degree received from the institution (i.e. Bachelor of Science, Associates in Liberal Arts, etc.), not the major completed. Individual majors like Nursing, Criminal Justice, English, etc. will not be printed on Mercy University Diploma. 

All replacement diplomas will say Mercy University at the top and have the signatures of the current Provost and President. 

If you believe you never received your original diploma, please reach out directly to registrar@mercy.edu with your name, date of birth, and CWID so that we may further assist you. 

Although we can send diplomas internationally, there is no tracking available for these documents. Unfortunately, in our experience, they are more likely to be lost in the mail. We highly encourage students to have diplomas mailed within the United States to avoid any issues with diploma delivery.

No, unfortunately we cannot print replacement diplomas for CNR students. If you are a CNR alumni, we encourage you to order an Official Transcript to show your graduation date.
